How Textiles and Clothing Students Spend Their Time and the Stressors They Reportedly ExperienceKansas State University
Iowa State University
Iowa State University A sample of undergraduate students majoring in textiles and clothing was used to measure students time spent, perceived stress, and the correlation between these variables. Students (N = 61) recorded how their time was spent during a 2-week period. Students (N = 99) also reported the intensity of stress in their lives. Findings indicated that during a school week, students spent almost the same amount of time socializing as studying and spent more time engaged in personal activities than for class preparation. Significant causes of stress included too many things to do at once, having to make important decisions about future career, and having many responsibilities. Suggestions for improving time and stress management are included.
