Teachers' Perceptions of Instructional Planning Skills: Development of a ScaleCollege of Home Economics, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX 79409-1162
College of Home Economics, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX 79409-1162 This study reports on the development of the Teachers' Perceptions of Planning Skills Scale. The 34-item scale is designed for use with either preservice or inser vice teachers. This factor-analytic study suggests the existence of five empirically verified dimensions of planning skills (preactive and postactive thoughts, imple mentation, pre-interactive thoughts, student needs, and teachers' theories and beliefs). Internal consistency of the scale was high (Cronbach's alpha = 0.89). This instrument can be used to contribute to the research base on teachers' thought processes associated with instructional planning.
