An investigation of the effects of life cycle stage, gender, education level, em ployment, and income level on the dyadic adjustment of farm couples was con ducted on a sample of 492 married couples from a six-state area. It was found that gender and income level were not significant factors in the respondents' reported level of marital adjustment. However, there was a significant effect on marital adjustment for the interactions of: life cycle stage by educational level of wives, life cycle stage by employment of wives, and life cycle stage by educational level of wives by employment of wives.
